The Royal Town’s MP, Andrew Mitchell, has officially opened Age Concern’s dog-friendly community café ‘Communitea’ in Boldmere.

Both Town and City Councillors attended the opening along with Boldmere businesses and local community activists.

Age Concern has transformed their ground floor reception area into the Communitea Cafe, which will be a key platform to address social inclusion for older and marginalised people in the local area. Food and drinks will be served in a welcoming setting at low cost, benefiting pensioners and people on low incomes.

All of Age Concern Birmingham’s services will be offered via the café, including services such as legal advice, welfare benefit advice, drop-in sessions for general advice and information, wellbeing & health care support and a range of quality vetting and approved products and services.

Following the event, Mr Mitchell said: “I am delighted to officially open Age Concern’s community café, Communitea. Age Concern Birmingham is to be congratulated for their work which will make a real difference for the local community. I wish them all the best in this important new local facility”.
