The Secretary of State for Education, the Rt Hon Michael Gove MP, has officially opened The Coppice and Langley Primary Schools in Sutton Coldfield following a £10.2 million co-location project, which saw the two schools move onto the same site in Four Oaks in January 2010. Sutton’s MP, Andrew Mitchell, attended the opening ceremony and greeted the Secretary of State as he arrived at the school. Speaking to teachers, parents and pupils after unveiling a plaque commemorating the opening of the new building, Mr Gove said, “I am delighted to be here today to mark the official opening of The Coppice and Langley Primary Schools at their fantastic new premises.” “The co-location project has been a huge success and I wish pupils, staff and parents all the best in these wonderful new surroundings.” Mr Mitchell said, \"Everyone involved in this project should be deeply proud of what they have achieved here. I am particularly pleased that the new facilities have blended in with the local community.” Photo: (L-R) Mrs Fiona Woolford Headteacher of Langley School, Rt Hon Michael Gove MP, pupils Jemima McCollum and Cairo Dodd, Rt Hon Andrew Mitchell MP and Mr Richard Green Headteacher of Coppice School.
