Speaking at a packed Annual General Meeting of the Sutton Coldfield Conservative Association held at Sutton Coldfield Town Hall last Friday evening, Andrew Mitchell reported on his work in the constituency and Westminster over the past year. Mr Mitchell said, “Britain cannot go on like this. The choice is five more years under Gordon Brown or change under a Conservative Government.” He went on to praise the local Conservative Councillors who have kept council tax to 1.9% for the fourth year running and who have started the slow task of overhauling the mess left by a previously Labour run council. During the meeting Hon. Alderman David Roy was elected President of the Conservative Association, Councillor Margaret Waddington as Chairman, Mr Meirion Jenkins as Honorary Treasurer, Councillor David Barrie as Deputy Chairman Membership, Mr David O’Hagan as Deputy Chairman Campaigning and Miss Grace Cross as Chair of the Woman’s Constituency Committee.
