Staff at Sutton Coldfield McDonald’s were delighted when Andrew Mitchell MP, and David Davis MP visited the restaurant. Franchisee, Doug Wright gave them a guided tour of the restaurant – from the dining room to the kitchen – and they also met some of his 75 employees at the restaurant. The restaurant is proving popular, with an additional 15 jobs created in store this year. Across 10 restaurants in the West Midlands, Doug now employs over 700 people – with an additional 60 jobs to be created by Christmas. During the visit, Doug, Andrew and David discussed the career opportunities on offer at McDonald’s, where 90% of Business Managers started out as Crew. They also discussed McDonald’s food sourcing, and Doug’s work with Ronald McDonald House in Birmingham; a 60 bedroom house which provides a free home away from home, 365 days a year, for families with sick children in hospital. McDonald’s Franchisee, Doug Wright said: ““It was great to host Andrew and David at Sutton Coldfield; it’s not every day we get to host our local MP – let alone two! I’m very proud of the efforts of my staff this year, and this visit was a nice way to demonstrate just how hard we work to give our customers the best possible service every day.” Following the visit, Andrew Mitchell MP said: “I was invited by Franchisee, Doug to visit McDonald’s in Sutton’s Town Centre and brought along David who had been to an event with me in the West Midlands the previous evening. McDonald’s employs a large number of local people and I want to congratulate them on the important work that they do in the Sutton and wider Birmingham communities.”
