At ASDA in Minworth Andrew Mitchell joined staff in drumming up funds for Breast Cancer Care and Breast Cancer Campaign as part of their ‘Tickled Pink’ two months. So far the store has raised £4,437.56. Andrew Mitchell MP said, “As a Patron of ‘Breast Friends’ in Sutton Coldfield I am acutely aware of the challenges facing Breast Cancer patients and of the valuable work carried out by Breast Cancer Charities on their behalf. “Breast cancer affects someone in the UK every 15 minutes; nearly 48,000 women in the UK are diagnosed with the disease each year. I was pleased to be able to get involved in Breast Cancer Awareness month through these two local campaigns which will help to provide essential funds for the care of breast cancer sufferers and the efforts to find a cure for this devastating disease.” In the Cancer Network which includes Sutton Coldfield, Birmingham and the surrounding area, around 1,400 women are diagnosed with breast cancer and around 300 women die of the disease each year.
