Sutton’s MP Andrew Mitchell has visited the town’s Jobcentre Plus to meet with Jon Wright, District Manager, as part of a series of regular updates between Jobcentre and MP. Mr Mitchell discussed with Jon Wright the details and effectiveness of measures that the Government has put in place to get those who are unemployed back into work. Jon reported good news with twice as many vacancies available through Sutton’s Jobcentre as there were twelve months ago. Sutton Coldfield is also on target for getting people off of Job Seekers Allowance (JSA) and into work with 93% of JSA claimants in Sutton moving on within 52 weeks, the national target is 90%. Andrew has been in regular communication with Sutton’s Jobcentre throughout the economic downturn, keeping track of unemployment and ensuring that every Sutton Coldfield constituent is dealt with as quickly and as effectively as possible. Following the meeting Andrew Mitchell said, “These meetings at Sutton Jobcentre are an important part of my work as a local MP. I am extremely concerned for my constituents who are seeking work during these difficult times and I will continue to ensure that they receive any support and assistance they might need.”
